“August” Bowie
BB35-A-143
By Nate “Tuna” Grant, Made by Tuna
The blade “August” is forged from 1084, 15N20, and Torpedo Blister steel from the Battleship Texas. My inspiration for the bowie came from a picture of the USS Texas from August 1942 when she was in camouflage. I tried to replicate a similar camo pattern by twisting the steel. The handle is engraved and anodized titanium, deck wood from the ship, and hammered and anodized titanium with mild steel fittings. I am absolutely honored to have been part of repurposing materials from the ship and creating a piece of art.
