Thank you for the opportunity to build this knife. The knife is ship steel San mai with an 80crv2 core and nickel shim. The idea of using the nickel to give the appearance of waves came about by accident. We had always intended to engrave the USS Texas on the blade and as we prepared the set up it became obvious that this was going to look pretty cool. And sure enough it did. I finished the knife with the ship deck wood for the handles and hammered out some pins to hold them on the blade. Thanks again for giving the opportunity to be a Battleship Texas Artisan!
